Some people still remember the legendary "Erdbeerweisse" – a beer that caused a stir with its fruity freshness and unconventional nature. Behind the original were the so-called "8 Glorreichen" or "8 Magnificent 7": a tight-knit group of brewmasters, beer sommeliers, and connoisseurs from renowned breweries in the German-speaking region – including Camba Bavaria, Schönramer Bier, the Sitter beer and wellness hotel, Schneider Weisse, beer sommelier world champion Karl Schiffner, and the Hofstetten brewery.

The idea of re-releasing this cult beer arose from the creative exchange between Anna Lohner (Camba Bavaria) and Erik and Jana from the Hofstetten Brewery – a new generation that continues the craft with passion. And when would be the perfect time for a Erbeerweisse? Of course, during strawberry season.

The new version – the "Next Generation" – was brewed with Camba Bavaria's wheat beer yeast and then fermented with real mashed strawberries. Initially, the nose reveals a full portion of strawberry, followed by the typical, fine wheat beer banana notes. The color? A bit darker, but not red – and yet: if you look closely, there's a strawberry on the edge of the glass, it shimmers beautifully and immediately makes you want to take a sip.

On the palate, the strawberry fruit and banana yeast aromas come together in a harmonious duet. The aftertaste remains pleasantly strawberry-like and invites you to take another sip right away. Perfect as a refreshing accompaniment to a light summer salad, for toasting with friends, or simply as a small reminder of how exciting beer can be – especially when tradition and innovation come together.

Available at the Camba Bavaria brewery shops and at the Hofstetten brewery.
